The City of Albany invites the community to a fire safety and resiliency event on Sunday, November 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Taft Street turnaround on Albany Hill. Staff from the Albany Fire Department and Public Works will share information about fire resilient landscaping, home fire hardening, and the management practices that help protect both the hill and the surrounding neighborhood.

Visitors can pick up native plants, explore resources for creating a fire resilient home and garden, join a guided tour highlighting vegetation management on the hill, learn about the Albany Hill Forest Management and Habitat Restoration Plan, and get an up close look at fire trucks. November is also monarch season, so there may even be an opportunity to see butterflies during the visit.
