Come to the Albany's Compost Giveaway where Albany households may receive up to four one cubic-foot bags of WM EarthCare Homegrown Compost™. (First-come, first-serve, while supplies last). Product Waiver Forms(PDF, 203KB) must be signed to take receipt of compost, which are available for download at home.wm.com/albany.
WM EarthCare Homegrown Compost™ is made from Bay Area yard trimmings and residential food scraps.
Why Compost? It is now the law (SB 1383) to compost your food scraps, food-soiled paper, and yard waste to prevent organic material from going to landfill where it decomposes and produces methane. The organic materials collected in your green cart are taken to a facility where it is turned into nutrient rich compost that makes a great soil amendment to your garden! Using compost can also decrease water usage through moisture retention during droughts.
