The Recreation & Community Services Department provides recreational and human services programs to our community.

Through our Recreation Division, we offer a wide range of activities for individuals of all ages, including classes, programs, special events, and access to indoor and outdoor recreational facilities.

Community Services

The Community Services Division assists community members in navigating City and community services, and provides access to needed information and resources.

 

Kick off a new season of fitness and fun by working out with friends. Try something new like pickleball or jump back into a favorite like adult coed soccer or softball. To start your own team or join as a free agent, contact Adult Sports Coordinator B. Bell at bbell@albanyca.org. Spring league registration opens in January, and summer league registration begins in June!

Friends of Albany Parks is a city program that encourages residents and community members to form a strong (or stronger) connection with their favorite city parks. Friends of Albany Parks holds clean-up days at; Memorial, Terrace, Oceanview and Creekside. Since inception in 2014 the Friends of Albany Parks has committed over 150 service hours to cleaning, planning and beautifying the green spaces our city has come to enjoy.

Friends of Albany Parks looks to create community stewardship within the City of Albany and beyond. The Friends of Albany Parks promotes placemaking and neighborhood involvement. If you come to a park clean up we offer free snacks and beverages!

How to register

Since 1997, The Albany Police Department's Police Activities League (APAL) provides positive alternatives for Albany's young people. With the goal of providing quality, fun and safe programming for youth, APAL is providing scholarships to help income-eligible families defray the cost of recreational classes and camps.
