Buchanan Street Repair Project Begins August 1

Pavement repair for the 2025 Buchanan Street Repair Project is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 1 by McGuire and Hester, the contractor for the City of Albany. Repairs generally consist of 4-inch depth pavement grinding, tack oil application, and asphalt replacement, with traffic striping refresh to follow. The proposed repair locations and schedule are as follows:

Friday, August 1 – Eastshore Highway at Target entrance.

Saturday, August 2 – Buchanan Avenue and Marin Avenue between Pierce Street and San Pablo Avenue.
The paving is anticipated to be completed in one day for each location. Please see the project location map(PDF, 5MB) for the project locations and proposed detours.
Street and Sidewalk Impacts:

Intersection access at Buchanan Street may be restricted during construction. Follow the posted detour signs. The contractor will maintain access to driveways at all times.

Parking will be temporarily affected on construction day. Crews will set up temporary ‘No Parking’ signs 72 hours ahead of work at each location.

The Buchanan Bikeway will remain open during construction on Buchanan Street. The Target and Toyota entrance on Eastshore Highway will remain open. Pedestrian access at crossings may be temporarily restricted.
