Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Armed Felon in Albany

On August 4, 2025, at approximately 3:08 PM, Albany Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle displaying expired registration. During the stop, a records check revealed that the driver had an outstanding felony warrant and was currently on probation out of Alameda County for prior weapons possession charges.
Officers safely detained the driver and conducted a search, during which they recovered a loaded 10mm handgun with a high-capacity magazine concealed in the driver's waistband.
The driver, an adult male resident of the Albany/Oakland area, was taken into custody without incident and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
