All-Electric Neighborhoods Pilot Project

The City of Albany is launching a building electrification and gas line decommissioning pilot project that seeks to transition an entire city block to 100% electric power. This project, one of the first of its kind in the nation, will help the City learn best practices for total electrification, identify obstacles, and consolidate effective policies and tools.

Three blocks have been selected as eligible candidates for the project. Albany staff and our consultants, Environmental Justice Solutions, have begun connecting with residents and building owners about the project. The goal of the pilot is for at least one block to reach 100% community agreement to electrify, with logistical and financial assistance from the City.

Participants are eligible for:

  • Free 1-1 technical assistance
  • Free, no obligation building assessments
  • Cost sharing with the City for electrification work

If you live or own a building on own of our eligible blocks, we want to hear from you! Fill out our survey here:

Please join us for our Community Workshop on August 23rd from 12-2 PM at the Albany Senior Center. Food and childcare will be provided.
