BART Tree Removal and Pruning
Published on September 11, 2025
The City, in coordination with BART, will be performing tree hazard mitigation work on trees adjacent to the BART tracks between Dartmouth Street and Solano Avenue on Sunday, September 28th. Please expect delays and detours in this area and plan travel accordingly.
The work consists of pruning trees with branches overhanging or close to the BART tracks and removing a large tree located near the intersection of Dartmouth Street and Masonic Avenue, which BART’s arborists identified as a potential hazard to the BART tracks.
The tree removal contractor will begin staging at Dartmouth Street and Masonic Avenue at 7 a.m. on Sunday, with work starting at 8 a.m. and extending through 5 p.m. Dartmouth St (including the northerly sidewalk) between Key Route and Masonic Avenue, and the Ohlone Greenway between Dartmouth Street and Solano Avenue will be closed during the tree removal work. Pedestrian, bike, and vehicular detours will be provided around the work zone.
There will be intermittent stoppage of pedestrian and bike traffic along the Ohlone Greenway between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for the pruning work.
