The City of Albany's Public Works Department is responsible for repair and maintenance at the City's Parks. Most of the parks in the City of Albany were last overhauled or rehabilitated in the 1990s and early 2000s with only minor enhancements to facilities since that time and maintenance needs are growing. Regular capital refresh projects address these increased maintenance needs and allow the City to continue to provide safe, accessible, and high quality parks.

The most recent update to Albany's five-year Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Plan (adopted by City Council on July 7, 2025) included creation of a new program focused on Annual Parks Rehabilitation. This program is intended to formalize capital reinvestment into regular refresh and renewal projects at City parks.

To support this effort, a park asset inventory and condition assessment project is underway to develop a data-driven and systematic program. Work is expected to begin next week and last about a week. During this time, residents and park visitors should expect to see field personnel inventorying and assessing conditions at park facilities, including playground equipment, restrooms, courts, ballfields, pathways, fencing, and other site furnishings.
