Dartmouth Tot Lot

The Opal Staniek Tot Lot is a mini park designed for tots. The park is enclosed by a fence and has a play structure, picnic table and fun recycling wall.

History
The current site of the Dartmouth Tot Lot was once a home that belonged to Opal Staniek. Opal loved children and left her property to the City of Albany to establish a mini park for the neighborhood children. Although the City now calls the park the Dartmouth Tot Lot, its original name was Staniek Tot Lot, after Opal. There was a plaque at the corner that was removed at the request of the family. In honor of her dedication to our community, residents in this neighborhood continue to call the tot lot Opal’s Park.
